About Us

We are the Welsh branch of the Landscape Institute, the professional body for landscape architects which includes designers, scientists and managers. The Landscape Institute Wales (LIW) helps to promote the work of the Landscape Institute and as one of 12 branches across the UK, we provide support and represent the landscape profession in Wales. The role of the LIW goes beyond arranging networking and CPD events. it responds to the needs of the professional members whilst promoting and supporting the Pathway to Chartership, a scheme to support graduate members in gaining their professional qualification and Institute membership.

One of the main priorities for LIW is ensuring that the landscape profession is represented in the devolved policy making process in Wales. A part-time policy consultant plays a vital role in this regard, with a proactive approach to helping develop and maintain close links with the Welsh Government and Assembly Members.  The LIW regularly responds to policy consultations, enlisting input from members with specific expertise, where necessary on related policy and strategy documents.

The purpose of this site is to provide information on landscape architecture in Wales, including news and links to related organisations.  Members of the LIW Committee regularly maintain and update the content of this site to ensure it remains an effective way of communicating with our members.  We welcome your comments; this is your website as members of the Welsh branch of the Landscape Institute, so please e-mail us and let us know if you experience any difficulties with any part of the site, or in attempting to access the documents posted here.  Most importantly, we welcome your feedback, involvement and any support you may be able to offer the LIW Committee.
